More Information

The ExAero was developed as a complete aerodynamic system rather than an isolated frame. The frame, fork, Gladius cockpit and optional MAG bottles were tested together, with CFD and wind-tunnel work carried out with Aerocoach in three phases: base frame CFD, MAG bottle integration, then the full rider-and-bike system.

Compared with the Seka Spear, Seka claims the complete ExAero system reduces weighted CdA by 0.00314 m², worth about 3.68W at 45 km/h (ExAero with Standard Gladius and dual MAG bottles, against Spear with aero cages and round bottles). Front-end stiffness is up 21.2% and rear-end stiffness 7.6%, with torsional stiffness rising from 367 to 416 (+13.4%).

At the centre of the frame is Seka's Wind Eye: an open seat tube and seatpost area that allows up to 16mm of vertical seatpost deflection. It takes the edge off rough roads without costing the lateral stiffness you need to put the power down.

The frame is moulded as a single structure with Seka's True-One-Piece Molding Technology, using M46J high-modulus carbon and T1100 carbon in the high-stress areas. Chainstays are a fixed 408mm and trail runs from about 70.5mm on the smallest size to 54mm on the largest, so every size rides like the same ExAero.

The Gladius one-piece cockpit comes in Standard and ALTA versions. ALTA adds 25mm of stack with the same reach, which is useful for sizing down the frame or for extra comfort (check toe overlap on smaller frame sizes). The optional ExAero MAG magnetic bottle system is sold separately; Seka claims dual MAG bottles cut weighted CdA by 0.0047 m² (about 5.49W at 45 km/h) versus two round 74mm bottles.

RDC and Standard Versions

The ExAero is offered in two construction grades with the same geometry, aero design and standards. RDC (Race Day Combatant) is the lightest version, with an 820g frame in size 54. The Standard version has a 935g frame in size 54 (both unpainted, ±35g). This listing is the RDC version; the Standard version is listed separately.
