The EXAR TPU tube weighs about a third as much as a conventional rubber tube, and the lower rotating weight makes it easier to accelerate and sprint. It is also softer and creates less friction against the tyre and rim, which lowers rolling resistance and improves ride comfort.

TPU is tougher than rubber: EXAR lab data cited by Magene gives a puncture resistance of 1200 N/mm for TPU against 800 N/mm for butyl rubber. It also ages and moulds less over time, so the tube lasts longer, and it passed eight professional tests during manufacture.

Packed, it takes up far less room, so you can carry a spare without a bulky saddle bag. EXAR Ultra and Ultra Dark wheelsets are designed to run with TPU inner tubes.
